While the regular football season may have well and
truly finished with both local and national finals having
been decided, it was business as usual for the Keebra
Park under fourteens as they embarked on their annual
end of season trip to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.
The carnival at Caloundra has become bigger and better
each time it has been held and this years contest featured
rep teams from Caloundra, The Sunshine Coast, Northern
Rivers in NSW, the Balmain Tigers development squad
and Keebra. Organiser Barry Button from Caloundra JRLC
was impressed by the standard of talent on show. "
With these teams all being of such a high standard we
have really seen some smashing football", he said.
"Its an atmosphere that really brings the best
out in the players and allows them to see how they are
progressing amongst their peers", he added.
Keebra had a good carnival with a draw and a loss on
the Saturday. However they saved their best till last
with a narrow loss to the Balmain development squad,
going down two tries to one. Standouts for Keebra were
Sean Williams, Dylan Blackburn and Blake Leary. Bodie
Clarke was equally influential in his role as captain
and along with Blake leary, recieved Tigers Jerseys
as players of the tournament.
