| It was great news for Keebra this week with two
program graduates Benji Marshall (2001-2005) and Jamaal
Lolesi (1994-1998), being named in the New Zealand Test
set to take on Australia in the Anzac Day rugby league
test at Suncorp Stadium next Friday night.
“This is one of those days I dreamed about as
a boy. When I was little I always wanted to represent
my country at every sport I could,” said Benji.
“I’m stoked to have been selected,”
he added.
Jamaal was similarly happy with his test call after
a career that has seen him having consistent form at
both the Canberra Raiders and more recently, with the
Bulldogs. It has been his solid performances at the
Dogs that have really stood out in the early round of
this years competition.
“Obviously I’m happy,” he said. “It’s
an honour to play for your country,” he added.
While the selections are obvious indicators that the
Keebra program is producing results, there is an even
more pleasing signal with 8 other graduates currently
enjoying success in professional Rugby League;
Greg and Shane Eastwood at the Toowoomba Clydesdales
Rangi Chase playing Premier league at the Wests Tigers.
Mufoa Filipe, Sam Moa, Nigel Fruen, Joe Harris and Sean Morris
playing Jersey Flegg at Wests Tigers.
