In what can only be described as a clinical performance,
the Keebra Park under 14’s have continued their
advance into the semi final of the Michael Hancock Cup
with a comprehensive victory over regional qualifier
Coombabah SHS.
Straight from the offset the boys established the tempo
of the game. Outstanding line speed and torrid commitment
in defence, coupled with mature line running and ground
winning body position, left Coombabah somewhat dazed
and confused as they struggled to absorb the constant
pressure. These opening encounters set a platform that
allowed Keebra’s dominant forwards to provide
quality possession that was in turn exploited by the
slick backline. Michael Joseph, Chris Lewis and Tyler
Holt were outstanding in the forwards while Kayden Matahaere
and Ben Fern showed good turn of speed in the backs.
The 14’s now face Palm Beach in next weeks semi
final (Tuesday 1st August at 5pm) at Pizzey Park. This
is sure to be a cracker of a game and once again all
support would be greatly appreciated.
In the 13’s, Keebra were once again victorious
over Coombabah and continued their unbeaten season and
progressed into the semi final of the Steve Renouf Trophy.
They too will face PBC next Tuesday (4pm) in what is
sure to be a close game. Taylor Feeney and Tyrone Holomoto
were outstanding in leading the boys to the 14-12 win.
The Opens faced SunnyBank SHS in the South East Queensland
quarter final of the Arrive Alive Cup and had a comfortable
win (42-6). This sees the boys move on to face Marsden
SHS who boast a number of Australian Schoolboys in their
squad in a semi final encounter at Pizzey Park on Wednesday
2nd August (7pm).
The fifteens will also resume their competition and
face Marsden SHS at Pizzey Park on Wednesday 2nd August
and kick off for that game will be 5pm.
