The 2006 Keebra Park development day for next years
intake of grade 8 students was held recently at Main
Beach and while the weather was pretty rugged it did
little to interfere with the days activities.
70 boys travelled from afar afield as Brisbane and New
South Wales for the camp that is a way of introducing
the squad to each other in preparations for next years
entry into the sports specialisation program.
There was a testing and skills session in the morning
followed by a hearty breakfast of gourmet sausage sandwiches
ably prepared by Nerang's own Pete Stephens (On Tongs)
and Darren Hart (On flipper thingy). The afternoon saw
a more lighthearted approach with a games based approach
aimed at breaking down a few barriers and giving the
boys more freedom to express themselves.
This is the second year that these pre-High School camps
have been held and they really do ensure a smooth transition
from primary to high school.
Organise Kurt Richards was pleased that despite the
weather the day was a huge success.
"We have everybody here that was expected and that
shows that what we are doing is valued in the football
community" he said.
" I'm sure that everyone has seen that we as a
school have a professional approach to our football
and days like these allow parents to see that their
sons will be immersed in a positive, disciplined environment
as they embark on the latter stages of their education"
he added.
With the school having it's most successful year to
date in 2006, it is good to see that the future is looking
bright with such a group of talented recruits ready
to join the ranks in 2007.
Good luck boys!!!!!
