| Keebra Park Opens moved closer
to the South East Queensland Arrive Alive Cup finals
this week with a 16-4 win over North Brisbane school
Morayfield State High at Wynum Seagulls.
With Morayfield being a quality opposition with the
likes of Australian Schoolboy lock/Halfback Joel Moon
in their ranks this was never going to be a game to
be taken lightly and the boys had been training well
and were bolsterd by the return of Junior Kiwi pairing
of Matt Parata at fullback and Ben Te’o in the
second row.
Keebra scored the opening points through a try to Sam
Te’o and went into half time with a 10-0 lead.
The second half saw Keebra add another six points to
their tally and while Morayfield did manage to cross
the line for a four pointer the result was never really
in doubt. While this was not one of the boy’s
more polished performances they did manage to secure
the victory and have given both themselves and coach
Greg Lenton a fair bit to work on as they approach a
semi final showdown with arch rivals Wavell State High.
Wavell progressed through to the semis with a win over
Redcliffe State High School in another well contested
game that shows that the standard of the final eight
in this competition is getter higher with every passing
year.
The Keebra Park versus Wavell game is set to kick off
at 5pm on Wednesday 10th of August at Pizzey Park, Miami
with the second semi final between PBC and Sunnybank
High school to follow at 6pm. Please watch this space
for any changes.
