The recent NRL match between the Wests Tigers and the
Canterbury Bulldogs brought the number of ex-Keebra
Park Students currently playing first grade football
to four with Rangi Chase donning the black and orange
and joining fellow program graduates Jamaal Lolesi (class
of 98) and Benji Marshall (class of 2003) in the Tigers
backline. Ex class mate Greg Eastwood (2005) is the
fourth current player who has had a sensational rookie
year in 2006, having cemented himself as a Bronco’s
utility and missing out on an International jersey due
to injury.
Rangi has been gaining rave reviews for his performances
in both the Balmian Jersey Flegg and BRET Premier League
sides, ( The West’s Tigers site has direct access
to these reports) and it was great news for the school
when Rangi got the call up to first grade in the Bulldogs
game. In a match that was already lost Rangi did cross
for a consolation try in the 76th minute and at last
got a taste of football at the elite level.
With 6 other ex students at various stages of their
careers in the Balmain Flegg and BRET Premier league
sides and this years Opens boasting some outstanding
talent there is a feeling that these four will not be
the last players to grace the national stage and it
is a very exciting time at the school as this talent
emerges.
The school competitions are reaching the final knock
out stages and details of these fixtures are on the
school website. With all grades finishing well in their
competitions Keebra are sure to feature in the finals
so if you can get down to the games, the support would
be well appreciated.
