Promising
young Wests Tigers player and Keebra Park "Sports
Specialisation" graduate, Rangi Chase will attend
the 2006 NRL Rookie Camp in Sydney next week. The camp
will run from Sunday, January 29, to Tuesday, January
31, at the Sydney University Village.
Wests Tigers were represented last year at the Rookie
Camp by Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Bronson Harrison,
Dean Collis and Bryce Gibbs. Marshall and Harrison went
on to play international football for New Zealand.
As part of the camp, players will undergo workshops
including Playing By The Rules, Marketing and Sponsorship,
Media, Networking and Cross Cultural Awareness.
Chase, 19, is a very talented player who played half-back
for Keebra Park High with Benji Marshall at five-eighth.
He played Premier League for Balmain Ryde-Eastwood in
2005.
Wests Tigers Welfare Manager Paul Heptonstall and club
chaplin Nathan Eyland will also attend the Rookie Camp.
“The camp is not only a good educational tool
but allows players to mix socially with the best young
players from other clubs. It is a great experience for
our players,’’ Heptonstall said.
This is a great signal that graduates are going on to
bigger and better thing sand seems to to be the start
of what will hopefully be a very successful career for
Rangi at the elite level.
