1. Co-ordinate
a suitable time and date with peers in Gladstone.
2. Add a combination of local and intrastate
junior teams.
3. Throw in a sprinkling of Wests Tigers
coaching staff and current players.
4. Combine in a fantastic venue with
excellent staff.
These are the ingredients that came together in a Gladstone
recently to produce what was a very succesful "Coach
the coaches" clinic with the Wests Tigers assistant
coach, Royce Simmons and a development and coaching
team including ex- player (now strength and conditioning
coach), Ciarico Mescia and current player Bronson Harrison.
The clinic was part of a weekend of trial matches that
featured teams from Gladstone, Keebra Park, Emerald
and Rockhampton. Individual players came from as far
afield as Roma and Bundaberg and all seemed to enjoy
the chance to play quality football against their intrastate
peers.
"It was a good chance to see how we are travelling
as a team" said Keebra Parks (and ex- Gladstone)
player Damon Harth. "It was also good to come back
to where i used to play and see some of my old mates",
he added.
The Keebra Park boys travelled up on the friday and
stayed till Sunday and and we are glad to report that
there were no crocodile encounters.
In other trial
news the boys had good hit outs against their "Big
Four" competition and the coaching staff were happy
with the general outcomes. Once again it seems that
this years games will be hard fought and very closely
contested so good luck to all involved.
