With the return to school came a glut of games with
most senior sides playing games in the past week.
In the Titans Challenge the Keebra Gold squad came away
with a 34-18 win over Marymount College who despite
having some god individual talent, could not match the
structured attack of the Keebra Boys. The first half
was methodical and from some well executed set plays
came some well worked trys. The second half saw the
boys tire a little and loses a little of the communication
that had seen them through the first half but the still
managed a comfortable win. THATS GOLD. Special mention
should go to Justin Cudmore, Will Sawtell and Tanu who
had solid games.
In the Walters Cup, Keebra 15's took on Wavell who boasted
a number of QAS players. the boys were initially on
the back foot through a combination of wind, slope and
the pace of the big Wavell forwards but went into half
time at 18-0 which wasn't too bad a result under the
conditions. The second half Keebra use the wind advantage
and put on a couple of quick tries that gave them the
credibility they deserved on the score board. However
they had left things a little too late with regards
to a come back and although eventually bowing out 24-12
they learnt a few lessons. One was not to allow hookers
to scoot freely and pop off loads to the big back rowers
who are bound to hurt you..........this will be worked
on at training and will be another addition to the structure
they already possess. Overall the boys are training
well and once they get the pieces of the puzzle together
are sure to be a force to be reckoned with.
The Open A'S have played two games in the Alan Langer
trophy and have secured two victories. First up the
faced SunnyBank who they comfortable disposed of 44-0
and this week played of against Redcliffe SHS. This
game ended up at 42-0 and gave the Opens a great start
to their 2007 campaign. There will be full updates of
these games in the weeks to come.
