Keebra Park High’s league program has received
a boost with the Wests Tigers extending their arrangement
with the school.
Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said the
successful relationship, that has produced NRL players
like Benj Marshall and Rangi Chase, was now an open
ended agreement.
“We are very happy with the relationship, they
do an excellent job and it works well with us,’
said McDonnell.
“We have not only extended it, we have increased
our assistance”.
“I can’t see an ending to it.”
Rather than give grants to the school, the Tigers scholarship
players attend the establishment where they train under
the guidance of head coach Greg Lenton.
The word from the Tigers is that former Keebra student
Ben Te’o, who was the Arrive Alive player of the
tournament last year, has overcome his troublesome osteo
pubis complaint.
He had his first game back from an operation last week
in Jersey Flegg and won the player’s player award.
Back at home and Keebra are getting ready for their
match with fellow Coast school Palm beach-Currumbin
High.
The teams will meet on Wednesday night at Pizzey Park
in the Arrive Alive Cup South Queensland semi after
winning their quarters this week.
Keebra beat Marsden 36-0 while PBC downed Redcliffe
32-0, with the winner of next week’s clash to
play in the State final.
