Wests Tigers
Rugby League Club has introduced an exciting new concept
for season 2006 to develop the skills of several talented
young players.
The Wests Tigers Apprentices Program consists of seven
fine young players who train at Concord Oval with the
Wests Tigers players each Monday, Tuesday and Friday
under head coach Tim Sheens.
Wests Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said
the Apprentices Program was quite unique.
“This is a way for Wests Tigers to fast track
these young players to first grade,’’ McDonnell
said.
“Apart from training with the Wests Tigers full-time
squad, the apprentice players also undertake media training,
public speaking courses, time management skills, and
learn about nutrition.’’
Keebra are proud to have two program graduates among
these seven and they are;
Sam Moa, 19: A strong running front-row forward for
Balmain-Ryde Eastwood who joined the club from Keebra
Park High School. Has played Junior Kiwis.
Rangi Chase, 19: Hooker: A very talented player who
played half-back for Keebra Park High with Benji Marshall
at five-eighth. Has been moved to hooker and played
Premier League for Balmain Ryde-Eastwood in 2005.
